From powder rooms to formal dining rooms, we match wallpaper material and prep to each space in your home.
A formal dining room, a primary suite, and a powder room rarely call for the same wallpaper approach, even within the same home. Larger Montecito, CA properties often bring several of these rooms into one project, each with its own wall condition, humidity level, and pattern considerations. R&R Painting and Wallpaper scopes wallpaper installation room by room rather than treating a whole-house project as one uniform job.
Older homes in the area sometimes have original plaster walls, which behave differently under wallpaper than smooth modern drywall. Uneven or textured plaster needs to be properly smoothed or lined first, or seams won’t sit flat and the paper won’t adhere evenly over time.
We install wallpaper across Montecito homes of every size, from a single powder room to a full estate project spanning multiple rooms and wall types.
Offices and retail spaces along Coast Village Road get the same careful pattern matching and seam work, scheduled to avoid disrupting business hours.
Not every wallpaper suits every space. Moisture-resistant vinyl holds up best in powder rooms, bathrooms, and other higher-humidity areas common in larger homes with more of these rooms in one project. Grasscloth and natural textured materials look striking in formal spaces like dining rooms or studies but don’t tolerate humidity or heavy handling as well, so they’re better suited to lower-traffic, drier rooms. We help match material to room function early in the process, since the wrong material in the wrong room is one of the more common reasons wallpaper installations fail early.
Every wallpaper project starts with understanding the space and ends with carefully aligned, polished walls that complement the room.
Pattern size changes how a room feels once wallpaper goes up, and it’s easy to get wrong without seeing it in context first. Large, bold patterns can overwhelm a smaller powder room or hallway, while a pattern that’s too small or subtle can get lost entirely in a spacious formal dining room or primary suite. Rooms with higher ceilings, common in larger Montecito homes, can generally handle a bigger, more dramatic pattern than a standard-height room can. We help match pattern scale to each room’s size and ceiling height as part of the material discussion, rather than leaving it purely to personal preference without that context.
